APTOS – Officials said a 68-year-old Watsonville woman died after her car drove off an embankment Saturday morning and crashed into the picnic area at Seacliff State Beach.
According to a California Highway Patrol release, at 8:23 a.m., the woman was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV4 southbound on State Park Drive south of Santa Cruz Avenue to Seacliff State Beach. down an embankment and crashed into the picnic area.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Dominican Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of the accident is under investigation and it is not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
