A new clip from Teen Wolf: the movie depicts the return of Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, on the hunt for Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin). The original MTV series aired for six seasons from 2011 to 2017, starring Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Dylan O’Brien as Stiles Stilinski, Hoechlin as Derek, Reed as Allison, and Holland Roden as Lydia Martin. The show focused on the titular teenage wolf Scott’s struggle to balance a new secret life as a werewolf with being an ordinary teenager, and saw Scott and his Wolf Pack face off against a variety of supernatural enemies in their town of Beacon Hills over the course of the series.
Five years after the show’s end, the core creative team (including showrunner Jeff Davis) and many of the actors return with another installment in the franchise, Teen Wolf: the movie. The Paramount+ revival film will continue the story of the Pack, starring all members of the original gang in addition to Stiles, as well as Jackson Whittemore (Colton Haynes), Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby), and Liam Dunbar (Dylan Sprayberry). Among the casting surprises were the inclusion of new character Eli Hale (Vince Mattis), Derek’s son, the loss of O’Brien’s Stiles, and Reed’s return as Allison given the character’s death in Teen Wolf season 3. A trailer released this year after Comic-Con for Teen Wolf: the movie confirmed Allison’s storyline as the film’s main antagonist, making the circumstances of her return even more intriguing.
A new clip from the movie released by Paramount Plus reveals the mission of the resurrected Alison as she hunts Derek. The hunter approaches the werewolf with both a knife and her signature crossbow, just after having a supportive conversation with his son, confirming Allison’s villain status. The equipment she uses seems to indicate that this is indeed the case Teen Wolf‘s Allison, though she doesn’t seem to recognize Derek the way he recognizes her. See the video above.
Why is Allison trying to kill Derek in the Teen Wolf movie?
During her walk teenage wolf, Allison sometimes served in a hostile capacity, mainly due to her family’s status as hunters of supernatural entities at the start of the show. However, as Scott’s first love, Allison was known for her protective instincts and loyalty to her loved ones, which took an unexpected and tragic turn as a villain. It’s possible that while Allison appears to be back, she’s not in her right mind – her dark side could come from a possession by series villain the Nogitsune, similar to the Stiles 3 season arc. The rage could also come from a revenge mission against her killers, The Oni, who have been confirmed to return in Teen Wolf: the movie. Allison’s actions may also be the result of manipulation by an outside force that has convinced her to go against the werewolves who are (indirectly) responsible for the deaths of some of her family members. Another theory could mean that Allison would resurrect, but without her memories of Scott and the pack, turning her back into a werewolf hunter.
Whatever the circumstances of Allison’s return and villainous arc, the character will prove to be Scott and the pack’s worst enemy ever because of the personal connections they shared with her character. In addition, if Allison has her memories of their time together, she could use that knowledge of them and their weaknesses to manipulate and defeat the pack. Based on the video Teen Wolf: the movie will be full of surprises for fans of the series, taking well-known characters out of their element.
