Tjmo Meier, Tomas Hertl to miss San Jose Sharks game with Seattle

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks will be without Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl for their game with the Seattle Kraken this afternoon at SAP Center.

Meier is considered to be out daily with an upper body injury but should be available when the Sharks host the Nashville Predators on Thursday, coach David Quinn said. Hertl will miss the game for personal reasons, Quinn said, but is not expected to be over today.

Without Meier and Hertl, who have a combined 99 points this season, the Sharks recalled winger Martin Kaut from the Barracuda on Monday. Kaut has one goal and five assists with the Barracuda since he and defenseman Jacob MacDonald were acquired from Colorado on Jan. 25 as part of a four-way trade that sent Matt Nieto and Ryan Merkley to the Avalanche.

Kaut had a goal and an assist in 27 games with the Avalanche this season. He has six points and three goals in 47 NHL career games.

The Sharks will dress 11 forwards and seven defenders today. James Reimer will start as goalkeeper.
