During the conversation she was asked at what point? shout 6 picks up after the events of scream. The actress revealed that the film takes place more or less right after the previous film with no significant time jump and that the year is between the release of the two films.”the amount of time elapsed in Scream timeRead her full quote below:
No, that’s not it [a big time hop] not at all. It’s almost right after the last one. Basically, the amount of time that has passed between one movie and another is the amount of time that has passed in Scream time.
What the Scream 6 timeline reveals about the horror sequel
Despite being released barely a year after the previous entry, shout 6 is actually not the fastest turnaround time for a scream continuation. That distinction belongs to 1997’s shout 2which came out 357 days after the original scream. However, that film had a two-year time jump, bringing Woodsboro survivors Sidney and Randy into college age. This means that shout 6 has the shortest chronological gap between films, such as shout 3 (2000), Shout 4 (2011), and scream (2022), all of which showed time jumps comparable to the time between entries.
The year between the films will give time for certain characters to transplant themselves from California to New York City. However, it also gives the characters of shout 6 the freshest trauma to contend with when another Ghostface killer supposedly appears on the scene. This could allow them to further the “exalted horror” meta humor that began with the previous film, as many films in that genre deal with the trauma of their main characters.
