FREMONT — Murder, attempted murder and other charges have been filed against a man in a Sunday shooting that left one man dead and another man wounded, authorities said Wednesday.
Besides the murder and attempted murder counts, Lorinzo Haley, 34, of Fremont, was also charged Tuesday with assault with a firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling, authorities said..
Police still have not publicly identified the man killed or said if either of the men shot knew Haley. Investigators were still probing a possible motive.
The shooting happened about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 34000 block of Fremont Boulevard. The two men were found wounded and were taken to a hospital, where one of them died.
The other man was in stable condition.
Police said in a news releases that as the men were being shot at, additional rounds hit an inhabited dwelling, which nearly struck another victim inside.
Police said officers flooded the area looking for the shooting suspect; Haley was arrested a short distance away. During the subsequent investigation, detectives found video surveillance from community cameras that captured Haley running from the scene while holding a firearm, police said.
Police said Haley has a lengthy criminal history, including arrests for robbery, assault on a person inflicting serious bodily injury, criminal threats, resisting an officer by threat or violence, and burglary.
Haley is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail. He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
