Deadpool 3 is set to be Ryan Reynold’s “merc-with-a-mouth” in the . to bring MCU, but it’s uncertain what will happen to the ensemble of supporting characters he helped introduce. Leslie Uggams is the only other actor confirmed to return to the franchise and reprise her role as Blind Al. The promise of Hugh Jackman’s return for… Deadpool 3 has caused quite a stir around the sequel, adding speculation as to who else will join Wade Wilson in his first MCU outing. Deadpool 3 will be the first film in the franchise since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Disney and Marvel Studios also acquired rights to the X-Men movie franchises, which Deadpool movies shared a universe with.
While the options for adding new faces to Deadpool 3 has increased exponentially remains to be confirmed whether anyone other than Blind Al will return. The actors Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Cable (Josh Brolin), and Domino (Zazie Beetz) have all expressed an interest in returning for the third installment and would be welcome additions to the story. Multiverse madness opens the way for the integration of any number of mutants from the Fox franchise, if Deadpool 3 who carries MCU burden, they may include the mutants who have already shared screen time with Wade Wilson. Marvel could keep the return or involvement of certain characters a secret while distracting the fanbase with the big Wolverine/Deadpool team-up dream announcement. However, it would be a disservice to ignore the potential of further exploring Cable and Deadpool’s relationship.
What cable return could mean for Deadpool 3?
In 2004, one of the biggest “buddy team-ups” in all of Marvel’s history was created. The Cable & Deadpool comic series began after the cancellation of each character’s solo series at the time and ran for 50 issues. An odd combination at first glance, with Deadpool’s “shoot first and talk to yourself later” mentality (and Cable was all too serious the whole time), but nonetheless the series was well received. Deadpool 3 should explore Cable’s techno-organic virus and the timeline that made him so grim, as well as the depths of his love/hate for Wade. Let Deadpool and Cable spend more time on screen together as allies, unlike most of Deadpool 2would create more memorable comic book moments for MCU moviegoers.
Ever since Sir Patrick Stewart acted as Professor Xavier in… Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, speculation has increased as to when and how more of the mutants will be introduced. The writers have room to introduce more mutants through exposition thanks to Cable’s time-traveling abilities and the fact that he is the future son of Cyclops. Deadpool’s affinity for breaking the fourth wall to complain about the lack of X-Men in his movies may finally be paying off. The time travel Wade used to trace his own movie origins could be the tool used to explain that the X-Men from the Fox movies aren’t dead and how they’ll arrive in the MCU. Presence of cable in Deadpool 3 would mean he’s officially part of the MCU and hopefully a slew of future X-Men announcements.
How Domino Could Join the MCU
Despite what Deadpool has to say, luck has incredible cinematic value in Deadpool 2, and should Zazie Beetz reprise her role in? Deadpool 3, it could be another entertainingly powerful on-screen team-up. While Beetz’s charisma in the role is enough to see her dangerously but gracefully through every scene, it’s Domino’s reputation in the comics that would give her a place in the larger MCU. Domino, a mutant born from top secret government breeding programs, is known for her time spent with X-Force, the mutant black ops team Deadpool 2, and eventually turned into a punchline. Domino, one of the most prominent and powerful members of the team in the comics, and Cable, the founder of the team in the comics, reunite in Deadpool 3 teases another X-Force highlight that would give the two characters a home in the MCU.
Could the MCU have its own X-Force?
Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have the chance to tap into a wealth of interesting storylines and powerful characters. They also have the rights to the submitted X-Force project of their 20th Century Fox acquisition and can introduce other popular mutants such as Olivia Munn’s Psylocke from Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse. With the potential to expand into Cable, as well as Domino, the most overpowered X-Men to date, the MCU has plenty of mutants at its disposal that have yet to be introduced. Ryan Reynolds has already proven that there is an audience for an R-rated superhero franchise. Marvel would clean up at the box office with a black ops team formed to protect the mutant child by any means necessary. Deadpool 3 should bring X-Force back for good, this time for real, expanding the concept as a way to introduce other X-Men mutants that were missing from the MCU as far.
