OAKLAND – A 5-year-old girl and a woman were hospitalized Saturday afternoon after being hit by a pickup truck that kept moving in the Fruitvale district, police said.
The girl was in a stable condition in a hospital. The condition of the woman, who according to the police is related to the girl, was not immediately known.
The collision happened around noon on Saturday at the intersection of 34th Avenue and International Boulevard.
Police said the girl and woman were walking north together at a 34th Avenue crosswalk when they were hit by a pickup truck traveling east on International. The driver of the truck failed to stop and was last seen traveling north on 36th Avenue.
Police described the truck as a 2000s silver Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra with an eight-foot bed. A detailed description of the driver has not been released.
International Boulevard was closed while police investigated, including a witness search and video surveillance.
