OAKLAND — An autopsy has determined that a man found dead in a vehicle at a West Oakland homeless camp last week died of a shooting and the death is now being investigated as homicide, authorities said Thursday.
The name of the 41-year-old man has not yet been released.
He was found dead in a vehicle on February 16 at a homeless camp in the 600 block of Castro Street. Presumably the man lived in the camp.
There was decomposition of the body and police were awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how he died.
A motive has not yet been determined and no arrests have been made.
Oakland Police and Crime Stoppers are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information can call the police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
