OAKLAND — A 14-year-old boy who had been shot multiple times was dropped off at a hospital in Oakland Thursday night, authorities said, but police are still trying to determine where the shooting took place.
The youngster was dropped off at a hospital around 7:56pm on Thursday by someone in a vehicle who drove off before speaking to police.
He had been shot multiple times in the legs and torso and would later be in stable condition, authorities said.
The youngster apparently recently moved to West Oakland from another city. He said he was on a bus and had just got off somewhere — he thinks in East Oakland — when he heard gunshots and realized he had been shot, authorities said.
Oakland police were already investigating a shooting that occurred just before 7 p.m. when a man was injured multiple times in the 1600 block of 46th Avenue.
Investigators hoped to talk to the youngster at some point to see if they can get more details to determine where and why he was shot and who shot him.
Oakland Police and Crime Stoppers are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information can call the police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
