Antioch: Police arrest shooting suspect

ANTIOCH — A 23-year-old man was in jail Monday following his arrest late last week on multiple charges in connection with a shooting last month in the city’s Sycamore corridor, authorities said.

In a statement, police said a traffic stop by members of the gang from the department and special investigative units last Thursday on Vasco Road in Brentwood led to the arrest of a Livermore resident, followed by a search warrant at his home.

Investigators said they believe the man is the suspect behind a shooting with no injuries just after 1:05 p.m. Dec. 12, 2022 near Peppertree Way and Sycamore Drive. Officers responding to calls reporting the shooting found no victims, but managed to find evidence of it, police said.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and several other gun-related crimes, and was in custody in Martinez Jail on $1.2 million bail, according to a check of district records Monday night.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Antioch Police Det. Arturo Becerra at [email protected] and Reference Case No. 22-8987, or send an anonymous tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword ANTIOCH
